Accident occurred at the intersection of South Washington and
Fourth Street.

84-year-old male, Lincoln; 2008 Chevrolet Malibu

74-year-old male, Lincoln; 1994 Toyota pickup
The vehicle driven by Thomas was westbound on Fourth Street,
approaching the stop sign at South Washington. Thomas said he
thought the sign was farther away than it actually was. He started
to slow down for the eventual stop but was too late. When he
realized he was at the intersection, he accidentally applied the gas
pedal rather than the brake and entered the intersection, where he
struck the vehicle driven by Wibben.
Wibben said he saw that Thomas was coming too fast. Wibben slowed
and tried to stop, but was unable to.
Thomas was ticketed for disobeying a stop sign.
Oct. 9, 9:10 a.m.
Accident occurred at the intersection of Pekin and North Chicago
streets.

18-year-old male, Emden; 2001 Honda Odyssey

Kapik, John J., 89-year-old male,
Lincoln; 2003 Ford Explorer
Harp said he was southbound on Chicago Street, approaching Pekin.
He saw the stop sign too late, attempted to stop but was unable to.
Kapik said he was westbound on Pekin and could see that Harp was
not going to stop. He tried to stop but also was unable to do so.
Harp was ticked for failure to yield the right of way and failure
to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Oct. 9, 9:14 a.m.
Accident occurred at McDonald's in the 1100 block of Hickox
Drive.
- Jones, Ronald L., 70-year-old male, Lincoln; 2002 Chevrolet
Tracker
Jones was using the drive-up facility at McDonald's. He said that
he overshot the second window where he was supposed to stop, so he
had to back up. In doing so he backed into the window. The report
stated that there was no damage to the McDonald's facility, but
there was damage to the Jones vehicle.
