[October 25, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Jesse Everett Garner, 87, of Lincoln, formerly of McLean, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at 1:25 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

There will be a private graveside service later.

Burial will be in McLean Cemetery, McLean.

Mr. Garner was a retired electrician. He had operated Jess Garner Electric Shop in McLean.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was born April 11, 1923, in rural McLean. His parents were Isaac Forbes and Meta Octavia Keel Garner.

He is survived by one daughter, Tina Roberts of Minier; two grandchildren, Jesse and Christen Roberts of Minier; his companion and caregiver, Alice Merreighn of Lincoln; one stepson, John Bagosy of Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, three sisters and four brothers. He was the last of his immediate family.

He was a member of the McLean Church of God and a 60-year member of McLean American Legion Post 573.

He was a guitar player in area bands and was an avid golfer.
