Barbara Steffens

[September 16, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Barbara C. Steffens, 86, of Lincoln, died at 12 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henderson officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Steffens retired from Eaton Corp., where she worked on the assembly line. She previously worked at Lincoln Garment Factory.

She was born April 2, 1924, in Lincoln. Her parents were Martin and Edith Horn Last. She married Arthur Steffens on Feb. 21, 1948, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death in 1979.

She is survived by two granddaughters, Penny Pokora and Ruthie Wheeler, both of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Jessica Pokora of Springfield, Jerrad (and April) Pokora of Maysville, N.C., Adam Millburg of Springfield and Maria Millburg of Springfield; four great-great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Olivia and Emily Pokora of Maysville, N.C., and Landon Pokora of Springfield; one brother, Les (and Evelyn) Last of Lincoln; one sister, Violet Robinson of Lincoln; a sister-in-law, Doris Last of Hartsburg; nieces and nephews Kenneth Robinson, Sue Huskins, Leanna Culp, Lavonna Boyd, Leslee Ann Moore, David Last, Loren Last, Scott Last and Eric Last; and several cousins.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Dale Wheeler; one great-granddaughter, Leanna Pokora; and one brother, Dana Last.

Funeral Director

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lincoln, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed sewing quilts and Barbie clothes, loved to go camping, and enjoyed rodeos in Wisconsin and country opera.

She graduated from New Holland High School.

Memorials may be made to Lincoln Christian Church Harvest of Talents.
