[September 21, 2010]  ARMINGTON -- Lois Shepherd, 79, of Bloomington, formerly of Armington, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at 11:14 p.m. in the emergency room of Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta.

Mrs. Shepherd's funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Armington Christian Church, with Ed Loyd officiating.

Burial will be in Oak View Cemetery, rural Armington.

She was born Oct. 8, 1930, in Quitman, Ark. Her parents were Roy and Opal Brown Nail. She married Ishmal Shepherd on Nov. 3, 1948, in Maynard, Ark. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Dean (and Cheryl) Shepherd of Alabaster, Ala.; her daughter, Dian Horner of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Angie (and Brian) Huonker, Stacie Grant, Megan (Greg) Hains, Josh Shepherd, Jeremy (and Angel) Shepherd and Jamie (and James) King; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Maxell Nail of New York and David Nail of Pennsylvania; and one sister, Ruby Hobby of Arizona.

She was also preceded in death by her oldest brother and oldest sister.

Memorials may be made to Armington Christian Church or AstaCare of Bloomington.
