W. Maxine Stengel

[September 23, 2010]  LINCOLN -- W. Maxine Stengel, 86, of Springfield, died Sept. 14, 2010, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at the Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln. Sean Warren, Maxine's grandson, will officiate.

Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home of Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

She was born July 2, 1924, in Springfield. Her parents were William and Ida Adkinson Kane. She married George Stengel. He preceded her in death in 1982.

She is survived by two daughters, Georgia (and Gary) Warren and Cathy Greenleaf; one sister, Lillian Smith; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Merle, Donald, LaRue and Wilfred Kane; and two sisters, Marjorie Kittell and Virginia Link.

She was a member of West Side Christian Church in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Sam Club, in care of The Christian Village, 1507 Seventh St., Lincoln, IL 62656.
