warmer temperatures, the zoo's giraffe herd was
given access to their outdoor environment at the
"Habitat Africa! The Savannah" exhibit for the first
time this year.

Keeping "track" of traffic. Work crews were
stationed at all Lincoln railroad crossings yesterday. Work on the rail
line required disarming the crossing gates, which meant staff had
to be on hand to ensure safety.

Ilyasah Shabazz, right, and Malaak Shabazz, daughters
of slain civil rights leader Malcolm X, are shown on Wednesday in
New York. The Shabazz sisters are unhappy about a new biography, "A
Life of Reinvention: Malcolm X," which alleges that their parents'
marriage was strained and that their mother, Betty Shabazz, was
unfaithful.
Lincoln College's 6-foot shortstop, Kenny May, put up MVP-like numbers
this past week against Lewis and Clark, Benedictine, Illinois College,
and Illinois Central. The Belleville native recorded 20
hits, including five doubles and two triples, in 30 at-bats (.666
average) for the Lynx. He put up 17 runs, 12 RBIs and six stolen
bases over the span as well. Not only did May bat safely, he also
had a win and two saves on the mound over the week.
