This
family photo shows Jim Mimlitz sitting at the airport
in Frankfurt, Germany, in June during a layover on
his way to Russia. Mimlitz was mistakenly
connected to a reported cyber attack last
month on a water district in central
Illinois. The report turned out to be a false
alarm.
While Mimlitz was on vacation with
his family in Russia in June, someone from
the Curran-Gardner Public Water District
near Springfield called his cellphone
and asked him to check data on the system. Mimlitz, a contractor for the water
district, did the checking, but he didn't mention he
was doing so from Russia.
Five months later,
after the water pump failed, a repairman
examining the logs saw a Russian IP address
linking to the system with Mimlitz's sign-on.
The water district reported that to a state
agency, and the Illinois Statewide Terrorism
and Intelligence Center got involved.
"A
quick and simple phone call to me right away
would have defused the whole thing
immediately," Mimlitz said.

Enjoy the food! Contrary to
what you may hear, most babies can tolerate mom eating
and drinking a variety of foods without getting gassy or
fussy. They may even enjoy the variety of tastes that
they get in the breast milk. So enjoy… but make sure you
don't just eat the sweets. Mommies need energy from
good, healthy food as well.

County Department of Public Health, 217-735-2317, ext.
