Lincoln Junior High School has three groups of instrumental musicians -- pep band, concert band and jazz band. The pep band performs at boys’ home basketball games. Members began practicing in September on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school to polish their sound. Dec. 5 is the band’s eighth and final performance for the season.

The LJHS concert band will present its winter concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 in the school gym.

The work was done through a grant started by then-board chairman Terry Carlton and continued by the building and grounds committee. Officials of the county, city, chamber and Main Street Lincoln as well as many bystanders were on hand for the ringing.

A young traveler walks past the colorful "Harmonic Convergence" installation Monday at the Miami International airport in Miami. The large-scale installation was created by artist, architect and composer Christopher Janney. Janney terms the work "an abstraction of South Florida in color and sound."
