Irma Newton

[December 13, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Irma Eileen Newton, 94, of Lincoln, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at 9:32 a.m. at her home.

A memorial service for Mrs. Newton will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Robert Henderson officiating.

No visitation is scheduled. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Newton had worked at Stetson's and Lincoln Developmental Center.

She was born on Oct. 21, 1917, at Tamaroa. Her parents were Karl "Charlie" and Mable Crane Newhouse. She married George L. Newton on June 15, 1934. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1998.

She is survived by two sons, Karl (and Donna) Newton of Beason and James (and Kay) Newton of Lincoln; one daughter, Georgia Kay Newton of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Leonard Newton; two brothers; and three sisters.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to her church.
