In
this
Sunday photo, a
14-year-old student taking his
first flying lesson and his instructor
were forced to make an emergency landing
on an open stretch of Boones Creek Road
in Wise County, Tenn., when their
plane's engine stopped. No one was hurt.
After a mechanic fixed the engine,
police cleared the road and the plane
took off and went back to Tri-Cities
Regional Airport. The student, Phoenix
Phillips, 14, rode home with his parents
in a car but said the experience only
made him more enthusiastic about learning
to fly.
