Evelyn Taylor

[February 22, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Evelyn Z. Taylor, 90, of Lincoln, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary of Lincoln Christian Church. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. in the church sanctuary, with Ron Otto officiating.

Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Limestone Cemetery, Hanna City.

Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

Evelyn was born March 19, 1920, in Farmington. Her parents were Clarence and Edith Lane Wright. She married Allan R. Taylor on Dec. 18, 1941. He preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2000.

She is survived by her children, Robert E. Taylor and his wife, Connie, of Toluca, Martha Baldwin and her husband, Steve, of Monticello, and Mary Curry of Champaign; her grandchildren, Aaron, Wade, Steve, Diane, Craig, Daniel and Paul; and her great-grandchildren, Wilson, Anna Leigh, Lewis, Rory, Colton, Seth, Taylor, Brianna, Alex and Allan.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bob Wright; her sister, Marie Parr; and her sister-in-law, Mabel Taylor.

Mrs. Taylor was a longtime and active member of Lincoln Christian Church, where she participated in the Sara Circle and Jolly Seniors.

She also was a volunteer at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital and at The Christian Village.

Funeral Directors

Her selflessness and acts of kindness will be missed by many.

Memorial donations may be made to the Taylor Scholarship fund at Lincoln Christian University or to the Children of Pokot Education Fund, known as COPE.
