[January 03, 2011]  LINCOLN -- William M. Altman, 85, of Lincoln, formerly of Lawndale, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Following his direction, there will be no services.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of cremation arrangements.

Burial will be in Lawndale Cemetery.

He was a retired member of Operating Engineers Local 649.

During World War II, he served his country as a U.S. Marine in the 2nd Marine Division, receiving many honors, including a Silver Star.

Bill was born April 7, 1925, the son of Frank L. and Aseneath Morse Altman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Kendrick Altman; his daughter, Terry "TD" Altman; his parents; three brothers, Fred E., Floyd and Jack; and one sister, Martha Dusenberry.

He is survived by three brothers, Edward Darnell (and wife Eileen) of Manteno, Archie of Slatington, Pa., and Frank of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; one sister, Eileen Simmons of Flippin, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews.
