Mary Shew-Stone

[January 03, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Mary Jane Shew-Stone, 86, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at The Christian Village.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

She retired from Chestervale Elevator after working there many years.

She was born June 4, 1923, in Windsor. Her parents were Everett and Pearl Davis Wall. She married Cloyce M. Shew in 1944, and they moved to Lincoln from Windsor in December of 1953. They had shared 26 years of marriage when he died in 1970. She later married Ramone Eugene Stone, and he preceded her in death in 1975.

She is survived by two sons, Allen Shew and his wife, Melody, of Lincoln and Ralph Shew and his wife, Michelle, of Lincoln; one daughter, Joyce Hein and her husband, Jeff, of Burnsville, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bruce Wall, Clinton Wall and Edwin Wall.

She was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian Church and then a longtime active member of Lincoln Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.  Eventually she became a member of Jefferson Street Christian Church, where she worshipped and participated in various activities for 20 years.

Funeral Directors

She was an active member of Zonta International and the Eagles Auxiliary, where she served as president on several occasions. 

Memorial donations may be made to Jefferson Street Christian Church or to Mioche Roch, a Haitian missionary, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
