Accidents

Dec. 28, noon

Accident occurred in the 200 block of Fifth Street.

  • Hoagland, Helen E., 76, Lincoln; 2005 Buick LeSabre

  • Randsell, Steven A., 36, Lincoln; 2002 Ford F-150

Hoagland said she was backing out of a parking space at St. Clara's Manor, backed too far and struck the Ransdell vehicle parked behind her.

Dec. 28, 2:17 p.m.

Accident occurred in the Walmart parking lot.

  • Cochran, David S., 89, Lincoln; 2001 Chevrolet S-10

  • Davis Richard M., 53, Mount Pulaski; 2010 Toyota Tacoma

The two vehicles were parked across from one another in the Walmart parking lot. Both drivers began to back out of their spaces at the same time. Davis said he was partially backed out when he saw Cochran. Davis stopped his vehicle and honked his horn to alert Cochran, who did not stop. Cochran backed into the Davis vehicle and then proceeded to leave the scene. He was later located and said he was unaware that he had struck the Davis vehicle.

Dec. 29, 9:48 p.m.

Accident occurred near the intersection of Woodlawn Road and Malerich Drive.

  • Langen, Lori D., 41, Blue Mound; 1992 Oldsmobile Achieva owned by Courtney Bennet of Blue Mound

  • White, Dale D., 64, Lincoln; 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Both vehicles were westbound on Woodlawn, approaching the intersection, when Langen rear-ended White.

Langen was taken to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital by the Logan County Paramedics.

Langen received multiple citations for the event.

Dec. 30, 12:26 p.m.

Accident occurred at the intersection of Decatur and South Sangamon streets.

  • Hill, Wilma M., 71, Lincoln; 2003 Ford Ranger

  • Riley, Matthew R., 29, Lincoln; 1992 Chevrolet Lumina

Hill was stopped at the stop sign on South Sangamon, with Riley coming from the east toward the intersection. Riley had the right of way. Hill said she stopped, then proceeded into the intersection, where she struck Riley. Hill said she did not see Riley coming.

Hill was ticketed for failure to yield. Riley received a citation for operating a vehicle without insurance.

Dec. 31, 3:30 p.m.

Accident occurred in the 600 block of North McLean.

  • Wilkens, Charles L., 46, Lincoln; 2001 Dodge Ram

Wilkens said his vehicle was legally parked in front on his residence at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 31. When he returned to his truck the following morning, he noted damage to the vehicle. The police report said skid marks showed that an unknown vehicle had slid into the truck. There was also debris from a broken taillight and evidence of green paint on the Wilkens vehicle.

Jan. 1, 12:11 a.m.

Incident began at the intersection of North Kickapoo and Southgate and continued several blocks into the Southgate neighborhood.

  • Hopson, Clarence Jr., 28, Glenwood; 1988 Chrysler LeBaron owned by Jerianne Hyde of Lincoln

The arresting officer noted Hopson as he was traveling northbound on North Kickapoo at a high rate of speed. When the officer began to initiate a traffic stop, Hopson sped up again and attempted to make a right turn onto Southgate. Driving too fast, he left the roadway, stuck a stop sign, then a telephone junction box, before proceeding to drive through the yard of a house in the 100 block of Southgate. Hopson eventually made it back onto the roadway, where he proceeded into the Southgate neighborhood for several blocks before stopping. He and two passengers exited the vehicle and fled on foot. They were later apprehended.

Hopson received citations for driving too fast for conditions, operating a vehicle with an expired registration, operating a vehicle with no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured vehicle, and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer.

Jan. 2, 7:50 a.m.

Accident occurred in the 900 block of Primm Road.

  • Reichle, Mabel Cozette, 81, Lincoln; 1998 Cadillac DeVille

Reichle said she was backing out of a space in a parking lot and, being blinded by the sun, did not see a concrete pole behind her. She struck the pole.

Jan. 2, 6 p.m.

Accident occurred in the Cracker Barrel parking lot.

  • Rossetti, Emily J., 18, of Lincoln; 2009 Chevrolet Malibu

Rossetti said her vehicle was parked in the Cracker Barrel parking lot between 4 and 7 p.m. when an unknown vehicle struck her car, causing damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.

Lincoln Police Department

  • Phillips, Mathew J., 28, of Lincoln, was arrested on Keokuk at Ottawa on a Logan County warrant for failure to appear in answer to charge of aggravated battery.

Logan County Sheriff's Department

  • Morse, Kevin M., 19, of Lincoln, arrested Jan. 3 at the Logan County Safety Complex on a Logan County warrant for failure to appear in answer to charge of illegal consumption of liquor by a minor.

  • Neuhaus, James R., 27, of Lincoln, arrested Jan. 3 at his residence on charge of violating an order of protection.
