Jerry 'High Therm' Highsmith

[January 24, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Jerry “High Therm” Highsmith, 61, of Lincoln, formerly of Flora, died Jan. 16, 2011, at his home.

His funeral was at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with Pastor Bruce Horsley officiating. Visitation was from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial is in Willow Branch Cemetery, Rinard.

Mr. Highsmith was a past oilfield worker and retired from International Paper in Lincoln.

He was born March 30, 1949, at Mount Carmel.

He is survived by his father, Yates McGrew of Flora; three sons, Jerry Highsmith Jr. and wife Stacy of Metairie, La., Timothy W. Highsmith and Rhonda Brown of Xenia, and Shane R. Highsmith and Brianna Burgess of Clay City; two brothers, Randy McGrew of Louisville and Rickey McGrew and wife Trish of Flora; six grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn McGrew.

He was of the Christian faith.

Jerry enjoyed fishing, antiques, old cars and toys.

Memorials may be made to Flora Boy Scouts.
