[January 27, 2011]  BAGHDAD (AP) -- Iraqi police and officials at two Baghdad hospitals say 37 people have been killed as the death toll continues to rise in the bombing of a Shiite funeral.

Authorities say 78 people were wounded in the midafternoon Thursday blast.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they aren't authorized to release the information.

The car bomb ripped through a funeral tent in a mainly Shiite area of Baghdad. It was the deadliest in a series of attacks over the last week that have left more than 200 dead.
