Red Lions rally in 2nd half for victory

[January 27, 2011]  SPRINGFIELD -- The Red Lions men's basketball team of Lincoln Christian University rallied from 16 points down at one point in the first half to defeat the Eagles of Robert Morris 83-76 Tuesday evening. Kyle Rust came off the bench to lead the Red Lions with 20 points and seven rebounds.

LCU was consistent in shooting from the field, with 46.2 percent in the first half and 46.7 percent in the second. The Eagles shot a blistering 61.8 percent in the first stanza but fell off to 36.4 in the second. Trailing by 11 at the break (54-43) LCU outscored the Eagles 40-22 after that to post their 14th win of the season to go with five losses.

Rust received help from Chris Lawson with 14 points, Brady Cremeens with 14, Troy Lane with 12 and Sam Ernst with 10. LCU outrebounded RMU 37-33.

The Red Lions men will next play at home Saturday at 3 p.m., when they host St. Louis Christian College, following the Red Lions women hosting Kuyper College at 1 p.m.
