Ruth Weathers

[July 21, 2011]  GREENVILLE -- Ruth Weathers, 72, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at 12:35 p.m. at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Greenville.

The family will receive friends at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Weathers and her husband moved to the Greenville area and spent 53 years there. She worked for Bel-Air, Zelma's Restaurant, at Dr. Goggin's office for over 10 years and then at Nevco as a machine operator for over 26 years.

Ruth Ann, daughter of Murray and Kathryn Wilson Vancil, was born Dec. 4, 1938, in Ava. She grew up in Washington Park and attended the local schools. She married Marvin Earl Weathers on Jan. 3, 1956, at the Woburn Baptist Church. They had enjoyed 54 years together before he died on June 25, 2010.

She is survived by her sons, Dale E. Weathers of Smithboro and Robert (and Marjorie) Weathers of Greenville; daughters Kathy (and Tuff) Kissiar of Dwight, Pam Omelson of Freeburg and Linda Yount of Hillsboro, who was like a daughter to Ruth; and three brothers, Glen Vancil (and Cathy) of Ava, Dan (and Marilyn) Vancil of Nashville, Tenn., and Robert (and Pat) Vancil of Gilbert, Ariz.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack Vancil and Bill Vancil.

Memorials may be made to the Bond County Hospice or Zion Cemetery.
