Francis 'Bud' McCabe

[June 01, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Francis Raymond "Bud" McCabe, 83, of Lincoln, died Saturday, May 28, 2011, at his home.

Private family services will be on Friday, June 3, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton.

Mr. McCabe was employed with International Paper until his retirement. 

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and traveled the world during his military time.

He was born Dec. 4, 1927, in Bement. His parents were Raymond and Delorus Nottingham McCabe.

He is survived by two sons, Stephen Francis (and Bea) McCabe of Clinton and Robert (and Ricky) McCabe of Erin, Tenn.; one daughter, Karen (and George) Taylor of Tuscola; one sister, Helen (and Ray) Clifton of Lincoln; two brothers, Donnie (and Judy) McCabe of Des Moines, Iowa, and Allen (and Arlene) McCabe of Champaign; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; niece and caretaker Judy Dano of Lincoln; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Genevieve, wife Ruby, son Mike McCabe, grandson Jason, an infant great-grandson and four brothers.

He was a member of the American Legion in Terre Haute, Ind.

He was an excellent carpenter and could build anything, and he was an avid card player.

Memorial donations may be made to the VA and will be accepted at the funeral home.
