KENNEY -- Leona M. Bakken, 83, of
Kenney, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at 10:32 p.m. at Liberty Village
Nursing Home in Clinton.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March
10, at Peasley Funeral Home, 401 Delavan St. in Lincoln.
Prior to the visitation, there will be a rosary service at
4:45 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Friday,
March 11, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,
502 N. Monroe St. in Clinton, with the Rev. James P.
Henning, OFM Conv., officiating. There will also be
visitation for an hour prior to the service at the
church. Cremation rites will be accorded following
the funeral service.
Mrs. Bakken was a school bus driver for the
Beason School District for many years.
Leona Marguerite Theresa Fleck was born Sept. 25,
1927, in Buffalo. Her parents were Lambert Peter
Fleck Sr. and Helena Marie Burg Fleck. She married
Peter H. Bakken Sr. on April 7, 1951, in DeKalb.
She is survived by her husband; their children,
Leonard (and Rita) Bakken of Lincoln, Teresa (and
Mike) Shafiabady of Kankakee, Peter (and Denise)
Bakken Jr. of Shabbona, Charles (and Jeannine)
Bakken of Beason, Kenneth (and Becky) Bakken of
Bethalto and Roger (and Jeannie) Bakken of Lincoln;
17 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 16
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Steele of
Buffalo and Cecelia Peters of New Berlin; and two
brothers, George Fleck Sr. and Fred Fleck Sr., both
of Riverton.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter,
two great-grandchildren, four brothers and four
sisters.
Mrs. Bakken was a member of Holy Family Catholic
Church in Lincoln and attended St. John the Baptist
Catholic Church in Clinton.

She was an avid gardener.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's
Research for cancer.
