The students will attend the health fair as an opportunity
for them to play an active role in learning about health issues and
healthy living. Information will be available on topics such as
cancer, tobacco use, exercise, nutrition, dental health,
disabilities, drug and alcohol abuse, asthma, general safety, and
other topics.
While the Children's Health Fair is open to fifth-grade students
only, the annual Community Health Fair is open to the public the
next day. Adults and children are welcome to attend the free
Community Health Fair, which will take place at the Lincoln Park
District's Indoor SportsCenter from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 2.
More than 60 organizations will have displays or offer health
screenings, as well as accepting various recyclable items. A nominal
fee may be assessed for certain screenings. There is no admission
charge to the health fair and all are welcome to attend. (See
related article.)
