Verna Brand

[March 18, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Verna D. Brand, 95, of Lincoln, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at 1:35 p.m. at The Christian Village.

Her graveside service will be in Adams Cemetery at Frankclay, Mo., at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Larry Lovvorn officiating.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brand was a homemaker. She and her husband served as pastors of seven Assemblies of God churches in Missouri. She had worked at Stix, Baer & Fuller in St. Louis, Mo., as a seasonal employee.

She was born March 30, 1915, at Frankclay, Mo. Her parents were John and Elizabeth Boen Glore. She married Fred Harvey Brand in Missouri on Aug. 13, 1932. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1989.

She is survived by one son, Philip (and Michele) Brand of Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Jeri (and David) Cadwallader of Lincoln; two daughters-in-law, Mary Brand of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and Vera Brand of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Chester (and Phyllis) Glore of Omaha, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Murrell and Kenneth; four brothers; and one sister.

Verna was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church, Lincoln Woman's Club and Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She taught adult Sunday school for 40 years and was active in the prayer ministry at Faith Assembly of God, Jefferson Street Christian and the First United Methodist Church in Lincoln.
