Dessie Gosda

[March 23, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Dessie M. Gosda, 81, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 7:25 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery, Atlanta.

Mrs. Gosda was a homemaker.

She was born May 16, 1929, at Arkadelphia, Ark. Her parents were Walter T. and Ora Early Black. She married Gustave "Gus" G. Gosda on June 18, 1949, at Elkton, Md. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1994.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda (and Jeff) Short of Lincoln; two sons, Gerald (and Judy) Gosda of Chimney Rock, N.C., and Danny Gosda of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Jenny (and Brian) Justice of Hendersonville, N.C., and Joni Gosda of Twin Lake, Minn.; and two great-grandchildren, Reid and Trey.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Christian Seekers and White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Dessie enjoyed drawing and made many greeting cards and notecards.

Funeral Director

Memorials may be made to St. Clara's Manor, Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois or the Logan County Department of Public Health.
