[March 25, 2011]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Mary Gertrude Ruwe, 97, of Mount Pulaski, died Friday, March 25, 2011, at 5:44 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln, with the Rev. David Ramirez officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Mrs. Ruwe was a homemaker.

She was born Aug. 29, 1913, at Mount Pulaski. Her parents were George and Alvina Danner Leimbach. She married Edward Ruwe at Beason in November 1936. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, George (and Judy) Ruwe of Carol Stream, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Roos, and one sister, Lucille Cooper.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln.

Mary was very active in the community. She served 35 years on the Mount Pulaski Library board, 10 years on Rolling Prairie Library board and 14 years on the Illinois State PTA board. She was a life member of the state and national PTA. She was president of the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for two years, a member of the Mount Pulaski Woman's Club, and president of many local and church organizations.

She graduated from Beason High School and attended Frances Shiner College in Mount Carroll.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln.
