Ruth Goebel Aldendifer

LINCOLN -- Ruth Goebel Aldendifer, 90,
of Lincoln, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at 2:05 a.m.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the
Rev. Phillip Blackburn and Ryan Edgecombe co-officiating.
Visitation will be during the hour prior to the service. |
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.
She was born Ruth Marie Groff on July 24, 1920,
in Lincoln. She married Dr. Robert Goebel on Aug.
16, 1941, and he preceded her in death in 1983. She
married Dr. James Aldendifer on Aug. 30, 1997, and
he preceded her in death in 2006.
She is survived by her sons, Judge E. Robert
Goebel (and wife Maxine) of Owensboro, Ky., and
Stephen Goebel (wife Carol) of Shelbyville; a
daughter-in-law, Martha Goebel of Harding; two
stepsons, James Aldendifer (wife Stephanie) of
Plano, Texas, and Robert Aldendifer of Redondo
Beach, Calif.; grandchildren Adrienne Smith (husband
Vernon), Robert E. Goebel (wife Hannah), Nicole
Pierce (husband Eric), Michelle Angel (husband
Travis), Todd Goebel (wife Julie), Drew Goebel (wife
Amanda) and Greg Goebel; stepgrandchildren James
III, Brent and Peter Aldendifer; and
great-grandchildren Bennett Smith, Vernon Smith IV,
Silas Goebel, Saegan, Seda and Sylus Pierce, Maya
and Finn Angel, Nathan, Scott, Connor and Lauren
Goebel, Kate, Benjamin and Lukas Goebel.
She was also preceded in death by her mother,
Grace Lee Scott Groff DeLap; her father, Thomas
Talmadge Groff; one son, J. Bruce Goebel; and one
sister, Juanita Evans.
Mrs. Goebel Aldendifer was a member of the First
Presbyterian Church, Abraham Lincoln Hospital
Auxiliary, the hospice board, Friday Book Club and
P.E.O. |
She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938 and
from Lincoln College in 1940 with an associate
degree. She taught for two years at Mount Pleasant
School, a one-room schoolhouse one mile north of
Lincoln.

Village Nursing Home for their loving care of Mrs.
Goebel Aldendifer.
Memorials may be made to the Pink Shutter (in
care of Abraham Lincoln Hospital Auxiliary) and the
First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln.
