Frances Murray

[March 30, 2011]  ATLANTA -- Frances V. Murray, 90, of Atlanta, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at 7:45 a.m. at The Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta, with Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery.

Mrs. Murray was a co-owner of the Palace Theatre in Atlanta for many years.

She was born May 23, 1920, in Atlanta. Her parents were Louie and Mary Charlotte Hawes Deuterman. She married Cyril Murray on Dec. 26, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1980.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Barbara (and Larry) Michael of Normal, Mike Flynn of Bloomington, Patti (and Courtney) Dorrell of Orlando, Fla., and Mark (and Brenda) Flynn of Atlanta; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Ina Mae Flynn, and one brother, Robert Deuterman.

She was a member of Atlanta Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Frances played the piano her entire life. She enjoyed performing for members of The Oasis senior center and at The Christian Village.

Memorials may be made to Atlanta Rescue Squad or the activity department at The Christian Village Nursing Home.
