Maurice 'Mose' Dee

[May 02, 2011]  ELKHART -- Maurice Edward "Mose" Dee, 85, of Elkhart, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 7:55 a.m. at his home.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln. Prior to visitation, there will be a prayer service at 4:45 p.m. '

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhart, with the Rev. Thomas Shaw officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Lincoln. Military rites will be conducted by Elkhart American Legion Post 616.

Mr. Dee was a lifelong farmer in the Elkhart area.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was born on Jan. 8, 1926, in Elkhart. His parents were Dennis M. and Anna Thomas Dee. He married DeLila Van Fossan on June 1, 1949. She preceded him in death in 1987.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Jack Dee of Springfield, Joanne Litterly of Elkhart, James Dee of England, Janet Price of Lincoln and Judy Liston of Blue Springs, Mo. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Lee Price; two brothers, John Dee and Dennis Dee; and one niece, Mary Jane O'Donnell.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhart and Elkhart American Legion Post 616.

He graduated from Elkhart Community High School in 1944.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 616, Elkhart Fire and Rescue Department, or St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
