Virgil Damarin

[May 03, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Virgil L. Damarin, 90, of Lincoln, died Monday, May 2, 2011, at 3:55 p.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

His graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Pulaski Cemetery, with the Rev. Andrew Nyren officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mr. Damarin was a farmer in the Elkhart and Mount Pulaski areas.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was born on Nov. 27, 1920, in Mount Pulaski. His parents were Harry Arthur and Alene Mayer Damarin Sr. He married Hilda Armenia Gluick on Jan. 4, 1942, in Lincoln. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1995.

He is survived by one son, Larry (and Donna) Damarin of Waynesboro, Va.; two brothers, John R. (and Jessie) Damarin of Taylorville and Harry E. (and JoAnne) Damarin of Mount Pulaski; one sister, Doris (and Richard) Eide of Wheatland, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Esther Wilham of Peoria; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral Director

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lincoln and Elkhart American Legion Post 616.

He graduated from Mount Pulaski High School.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
