Iris 'Betty' Marchetta

[May 02, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Iris E. "Betty" Marchetta, 85, of Lincoln, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at 4 a.m. at her daughter's home.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Father Gene Stormer officiating.

Cremation rites will follow the service.

Betty was born on March 4, 1926, in Atlanta, Ga. Her parents were Robert Shaw and Ina Isabelle Lloyd Matthews. She married Angelo Joseph Marchetta on Dec. 30, 1950, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Laurie (and Douglas) Muck of Lincoln; two sons, Andrew M. (and Tammy) Marchetta of Atlanta, Ga., and Richard E. (and Mary Kathleen) Marchetta of Boynton Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Brittany Muck Pham, Kathryn Elizabeth Marchetta, Jonathan Taylor Muck, Jacquelyn Olivia Muck, Elisa Lee Whitman, Jacqueline Mary Humphrey, Adam Joseph Marchetta, Kirsten Ruth Marchetta, Claire Elizabeth Marchetta and Anne Marie Marchetta; great-grandchildren Andrew Joseph Humphrey, Randall James Humphrey, Jace Richard Humphrey and Gwyneth Amelia Whitman; and one godchild, Iliene Euchuk.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Shaw Matthews II (Avis), and a granddaughter, Sarah Christine Muck.

Funeral Director

Betty was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Lincoln.

Memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Logan County or Memorial Home Service Hospice, 720 N. Bond St., Springfield, IL 62702.
