[October 13, 2011]  Thursday at 4 p.m. the Save Logan Collaborative is planning to march and rally in an effort to stop the closure of Logan Correctional Center. The march will start at approximately 4 p.m. at the chamber of commerce and development partnership office, 1555 Fifth St. in Lincoln, and continue to the courthouse square. Through the efforts of speakers and those who attend the march and rally, the collaborative plans to show the effect the closure will have on Logan County and regional communities.

Participants will either march or ride in a motorcade down Fifth Street to Clinton Street. The motorcade will park at Scully Park and then march to the courthouse square.

The rally will start at the courthouse square at approximately 4:45 p.m. The collaborative is expecting speakers to include state legislative officials, local elected officials, union representatives and local business leaders. Petitions will be available for signing.

People attending are encouraged to wear red, bring signs and their support to stop the closure of Logan Correctional Center.

Refreshments will be served to the first 300 rally attendants

The Save Logan Collaborative was created between the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce, AFSCME Local 2073, AFSCME Council 31, and the Lincoln & Logan County Development Partnership in an effort to stop the closing of Logan Correctional Center and to educate the public and lawmakers on the effects of the closure on Logan County.
