[October 13, 2011]  Plans for a new health park in Lincoln will be discussed at a public meeting at 7 tonight (Thursday) at the Central School cafeteria. All residents are encouraged to attend.

The health park has been made possible by the recent demolition of the former Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. The hospital donated the 3.75-acre site to the city for park development.

The public meeting will begin with a slide presentation showing the site of the new park and its relationship to other land uses in the city. Examples of activities and equipment that might be provided in a health park will be shown and discussed.

The public will be asked to fill out "input forms" with information such as who will use the park, what activities users will enjoy, what facilities are needed, and what priorities should be applied. The forms also will be available at City Hall for those who cannot attend the meeting.

There will be a second meeting to view and evaluate preliminary plans, once they are developed. The time and place of the meeting will be announced.
