Mary 'Joanne' Courtwright

[September 12, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Mary "Joanne" Courtwright, 83, of Lincoln died Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at 3 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Kaley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

She was born on April 23, 1928, in Lincoln. Her parents were Herman A. and Helen Harriet Ruth Young Koyn. She married Ben H. Courtwright on Sept. 25, 1949, in Lincoln, and he preceded her in death on June 3, 2002.

She is survived by a daughter, Becky (and Carter) Sorenson of Princeton; sons Kim (and Nancy) Courtwright of Grand Rapids, Mich., Todd (and Mindy) Courtwright of Lincoln, Kevin (and Nancy) Courtwright of Broadwell and Chris Courtwright of Lincoln, a sister, Penny (and Mike) Keys of Chimney Rock, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Last.

Joanne was president and a very active member of the Lincoln Developmental Center Parents' Association. She was also a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader and past president of Lincoln Junior High School and Jefferson School PTAs.

Memorials may be given to Logan-Mason Rehabilitation (son Chris' workshop).
