Lincoln Daily News
welcomes letters of appreciation, information and
opinion on matters pertaining to the community.
Controversial issues:
As a
community we need to be able to talk openly about
matters that affect the quality of our lives. The
most effective and least offensive manner to get
your point across is to stick to the issue
and refrain from commenting on another person's
opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the
issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

To the editor: The main reason the brick streets are in need of
repair is due to past repairs to sewer, water or some other utility
that then did not replace the brick, but instead patched the street
with concrete or some other type of asphalt.
I believe the city should adopt a policy that makes utilities
repair the street to its existing type whenever they have to dig and
make repairs to the utilities.
As for the current situation, I would love for the city to
replace brick with brick, but it is very unlikely due to the cost.

Brick streets add character to the city of Lincoln. That being
said, since brick with brick is highly unlikely, I would recommend
complete replacement and no overlay that does not repair the road,
only covers the blemishes for a very short period of time.
