 Another cold front will makes its way through the Plains and upper Midwest, producing more scattered showers and thunderstorms. This front will gain strength throughout the day, eventually bringing potentially heavy rain from Kansas through the Dakotas. This precipitation will move eastward into the Midwest on Wednesday.
The front in the Plains will continue to signal a cooling trend. While temperatures will remain in the 90s along with some 100s, further cooling is expected through the end of the week, when temperatures will be in the 80s for the
central Plains.
The West will be largely dry, aside from typical scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Southwest due to continuing monsoon moisture creeping in the region.
The Northeast will rise into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 90s and some 100s. The Plains will rise into the 90s and some 100s, but the warmest temperatures will retreat southward into Oklahoma and Texas. The Southwest will rise into the 90s and 100s, while the Northwest will see temperatures in the 80s and 90s.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a morning low of 39 degrees at Truckee-Tahoe, Calif., to a high of 107 degrees at Needles, Calif.
