Thursday
evening the Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival
officially kicked off with the first of two
ribbon-cuts. The
Lincoln/Logan County
Chamber of Commerce hosted the event at the Logan County
Airport, followed by a pre-festival launch of
several balloons.
Logan
County Board member Jan Schumacher cut the
ribbon. She complimented all the work the
chamber and others do for the event and was
pleased that it is held on county ground.
Abraham
Lincoln Tourism Bureau director Geoff Ladd added that
the Art & Balloon Festival is part of the $34
million in tourism's economic impact for Logan County. The
tourism bureau has been supporting the festival for
25 years, contributing $50,000 in that time.
Eric Graue, chamber president, and Andi
Hake, chamber director, complimented all the effort and support put
forth by sponsors, volunteers and the community. Hake added that volunteers reached
the target number of 300, which is what is
needed to make the weekend successful.

Two
of the many great things that make Logan County so
special -- balloons and wind turbines. This was one of
several beautiful shots Jessie Eynon caught while in the
air Thursday night. The special media event was
part of the official kickoff of the annual Lincoln Art
& Balloon Festival. At the event, members of
media were permitted to experience firsthand the work
and wonder of hot air ballooning.

Thursday evening Maple Ridge
Care Centre was just a happy place to be. There was a
bunch of really good food, lots of cool treats and some great
music as Maple Ridge hosted its 14th annual festival kickoff
party. All in all, this little guy's expression pretty
well tells the story of what everyone was feeling.
