As the blessing of the 17th Habitat for Humanity home neared its close, Mike Kubat, who helped lead the build of this home, offered the keys to the Utterback family.

The family was then asked if they would like to say a few words. Harley told the group of at least 30 people in the room that the home was far more than he ever expected it to be. He also said that some folks have the misconception that Habitat homes are given to people. He commented, "You get out of it what you put in."

He also acknowledged all those who had given their time and talents to the build of their home and said that the words "thank you" would never be enough.

After Harley spoke, his oldest son, Aven, also talked to the group. He said that he and his family would have been happy with a smaller home, but this was so much more than they expected. Aven and his brother each have their own room, there is a third bedroom for their parents, a laundry room, large bathroom and a large open-concept kitchen, dining and family room.

The home is built all on one floor for convenience for Harley, who has difficulty walking. It is already equipped with a kitchen range, refrigerator, dishwasher and garbage disposal.

The last event of the day was the singing of "Bless This House," accompanied by John Sutton on guitar.

The family wasn't able to officially move in Sunday as there are still some very small jobs to be done. However, Chaka said they will be living in the home for the new year, and that is a wonderful way to start 2013.
