Controversial issues: As a community we need to be able to talk openly about matters that affect the quality of our lives. The most effective and least offensive manner to get your point across is to stick to the issue and refrain from commenting on another person's opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such. Local veterans appreciate Woods Foundation support of Honor Flights Send a link to a friend
To the editor: Last Saturday, Orville Shaffer and I went to the annual meeting of the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight organization. We learned that this group has sent over 800 veterans on this great adventure to see the memorials in Washington. We also learned that the Woods Foundation in Lincoln has been a benefactor to this group, and, on behalf of all veterans who have been privileged to make this trip and those who will make the trip in the future, we publicly express our appreciation to the Woods Foundation. Land of Lincoln Honor Flight has three flights scheduled this year. We will try to make sure these dates are published and urge all to try to make the trek down to Capital Airport to watch the welcome home for those who have made this trip. It is inspirational!
