Wednesday
afternoon, guests of the Lincoln & Logan County
Development Partnership enjoyed a great meal, an excellent speaker in
congressman Aaron Schock and plenty of time to visit with their
neighbors from around the county. At the end of
the day, Mike Maniscalco, executive director for
the partnership, asked Schock to assist him in
presenting the first Community
Development Award. The award this year
went to the downtown steering committee, along
with Lisa Kramer and Darren Forgy of Prairie
Engineers, who work for and with the committee.

The
State Bank of Lincoln was recently honored by
USDA Rural
Development as a pioneer in the housing loan
program. Twenty years ago State Bank

affordable home loan. The bank was one of the
first in Illinois that opted to participate in
the federal Guaranteed Rural Housing loan

$525,000 deal for the home in the Chicago suburb. The new owners
plan to make their home available to visits by Hemingway

high school and is believed to have written some of his earliest
works in his third-floor bedroom.
