To the editor: My dear friends, I come before you humbly admitting
the error of my ways. A good friend of mine pointed out what a great
President Obama is, and after some argument I have to admit I have
been wrong. Obama has improved the economy and because of that I am
now going to endorse him.
It is irrelevant that in hundreds of speeches and interviews that
he promised to have us out of Iraq within six months of his
inauguration. (It only took three years.) I am going to ignore that
he sent another 30,000 troops to Afghanistan, doubling the total
number of troops there. I am prepared to ignore that troops there
help grow and ship the poppy plants out of there as well.
Irrelevant is the fact he swore to repeal the Patriot Act, and
then reauthorized it.
Candidate Obama promised labor unions that he would renegotiate
NAFTA and GAT to make it more fair for American workers, but then
his campaign was caught sending out memos to top corporate leaders
telling them not to worry, that it was just campaign talk.
Within the first week of office he signed an executive order
supposedly closing Guantanamo Bay and other secret prisons. Under
closer scrutiny, the order stated he was only THINKING of closing
down Guantanamo within a year, but worst of all, the order continued
the practice of rendition (secret abductions and torture).
[to top of second column in this letter] |
Never mind that he made the cornerstone of his campaign keeping
lobbyists and donors out of his administration. Never mind that
within hours of his inauguration he filled the White House with ...
wait for it ... lobbyists and donors (William Lynn, Tim Geitner,
George Mitchell, Leon Panetta and Tom Daschle).
I am also ignoring the fact that they lost $8.5 trillion of the
banker bailout money and still have no idea where it went.
ALSO worth ignoring is that the DOJ under Obama has been caught
shipping firearms to Mexican drug cartels in Operation Fast and
Furious.
Let's also forget Obama said he would not sign the NDAA (which
calls for the abduction, i.e., secret arrest and indefinite
detention of American citizens) and then sneakily signed it New
Year's Eve.
ALL OF THESE THINGS ARE WORTH IGNORING!
Because the economy is a little better than before here in
central Illinois, I am now endorsing President Obama for another
four years.
To all those I argued with that Obama is a liar ... I apologize.
What was I thinking?! Obviously he is a good man and only has the
best intentions.
