Sue McLaughlin,
city administrator, and Ken
Greenslate, Lincoln police chief, stand in a doorway in the
city's police department offices. Some rooms are
small enough that aldermen had to take turns going in and
out. |
Alderman Tom O'Donohue slides between a fire truck and a
large piece of stationary equipment in the city of
Lincoln firehouse. This is the only path
through the firehouse when trucks are parked inside. |
Tuesday
evening, members of the Lincoln City Council and city government took tours of
the city's police and fire departments. The purpose of the tours was to
give the respective chiefs an opportunity to speak about the conditions in which
they and their staff work on a daily basis. The city is currently trying
to find solutions for these problems and is struggling with finding a means to
finance a new facility for the departments that would accommodate their needs
more comfortably. LDN will have complete coverage on the tours and other
city issues in its Thursday edition.
