Saturday afternoon was a bittersweet event for the Lady Toppers and coach Eric Leever. The girls had gone further than any other Lady Topper team, making it to the state finals. The desire to be the champs was strong for all of them, but in the last minute of play it became apparent the girls would come in second. With only a nine-point spread in the end, and facing a returning state-champion team, the Toppers made history this year getting as far as they did, and when they arrived home to Mount Pulaski on Saturday evening, their community let them know just how much they were loved.
