Cooking with kids is an 'Awesome Afternoon Adventure'

Friday afternoon, kids who participate in the Awesome Afternoon Adventures at the Lincoln Park District learned how to make ice cream with a few simple ingredients.

When they were finished, they got to sit out under the trees and enjoy their creation along with a chocolate brownie.

Leader Christina Larson tells the kids what they will be doing.
She talks to them about measuring their ingredients.

 

Then everyone gets started.
 


The recipe begins with sugar.
Larson's assistant Nate Wake helps with the measuring.


Everyone puts 1 tablespoon of sugar in a sealable bag.

  

 
Next comes 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla.
