[October 24, 2013]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Joseph Heller's "Catch-22," Scott Turow's "Presumed Innocent" and Terry McMillan's "Waiting to Exhale" will be among the works featured next spring for the third annual World Book Night, when millions of free titles are handed out to non-readers, reluctant readers and people who can't afford books.

Organizers said Wednesday authors, publishers, booksellers and libraries will participate in the April 23 event.

Other books among the 35 selected for the United States include Anthony Bourdain's "Kitchen Confidential," Malcolm Gladwell's "The Tipping Point" and Doris Kearns Goodwin's baseball memoir "Wait Till Next Year."

Organizers say they expect about 500,000 special paperback editions of the chosen works to be distributed in the U.S.
