A view from within the tomb of
Jesus Christ on that Resurrection Sunday. Hearing the report from others,
Peter and John are just arriving to witness for themselves what had occurred
that morning. The disciples are viewed in the central background, allowing us to
also witness the scene and the moment John would later write about. (Gospel of
John 20:4-8) — Painting by local artist J. Anthony Shuff
It
isn't all that often that LDN takes a break, but this weekend is going to be one of
those occasions. There will be no Saturday edition of the daily news.
On Sunday we will celebrate Christ's Resurrection and give thanks for his death
and resurrection,
our salvation and the life that he has allowed us to have in this world while
we wait for something greater when he brings us home to him. We hope that
your weekend will be filled with love and joy on this special holiday.
We'll see you Monday!

The Lincoln YMCA is growing
sweet potatoes for the city of Lincoln and the Lincoln
Kiwanis. The Lincoln Kiwanis last year donated flower
pots to be placed around the square, and the city's From the
Ground Up group filled the planters. This year the Y
has volunteered to sprout and root sweet potatoes to put in
the pots. For those who may not know, the sweet potato
is a great plant to use in pots for green filler. They
bush and vine and spill over the sides of pots and look very
attractive. To grow your own is not that difficult. Lay actual sweet potatoes in moist potting soil and be
patient. The potatoes will start sprouting new
plants. When the sprouts are a nice size, break them
off the potato and place in water to "root." When the
young plants have a healthy set of roots, pot them in soil
until you are ready to take them outside. Also, if you
wish to grow them to eat, the process is the same, but you
end by placing them in the garden.
