Bill Thomas, of Atlanta, has been named the interim executive director of the Lincoln & Logan County Development Partnership, effective Feb. 7.  Thomas is well known in Logan County as a local businessman and an advocate of economic development and promotion of tourism in the Atlanta community.

Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois has announced their Employee of the Year. Nitsie Gleason, Head Start administrative secretary, was honored for the work she does within the Head Start birth-to-5 program as well as the overall teamwork she displays with Community Action. Gleason was previously named the Employee of the Quarter for January-March of 2013. She was presented with a plaque and $250 gift card by Jake Sexton, executive director, at the meeting of the governing board of directors in December.

When do you think this pile of snow will go away? We realize it's probably not the largest in town, but it's one we have daily access to. We can't help but wonder: How long will it take for it to melt away? Will it grow if it snows again? Whichever way, we're going to keep an eye on it for a while and just see what happens. Yes, we know, the top picture in this section is generally one relating to a health or leisure story below, but really ... what could be more "leisurely" than watching snow melt?
