Members of the Mount Pulaski VFW Post 777 watch via the Internet as Mount Pulaski High School student Madison Haley accepts a check for $30,000.  Madison, representing VFW Post 777, Illinois  District 10 and the VFW State Department of Illinois, won at the 67th annual national VFW Voice of Democracy scholarship essay competition Monday evening at the annual VFW national conference in Washington, D.C.

After careful consultation and prayerful consideration, the trustee board of Lincoln Christian University has announced the appointment of Dr. Don Green as transitional president of LCU. Dr. Green’s appointment was effective March 1 so that he can work closely with current LCU President Keith H. Ray, D.Min., until Ray’s retirement from higher education becomes effective on June 1.

And so we start over ... again. We have to be thankful as Mother Nature was gentle with us over the weekend, dropping only a couple of inches of the white stuff. Our snow pile definitely got bigger, but only because our trusty snowplower was Johnny-on-the-spot to get the driveway clean. Now, we hate to say it, but long-range forecasts say we could go through this again over the coming weekend. Let's hope those forecasts are totally wrong!
