Earlier this year the Logan County Board discussed and decided to offer a portion of their county-owned property between Pekin and Broadway Streets to the city of Lincoln for the construction of a new city police department. Last week on Monday, the board revisited that offer in a combined meeting of the Lincoln City Council and the Logan County Board. Logan County Board member Kevin Bateman told the council the offer still stood, and the county would be flexible in determining what portion of the property could be used by the city. To date, the city has made no decision on how or when to move forward with a new safety complex.

This past weekend was certainly a busy one, as local businesses and organizations kicked off the holiday shopping season with special events. One such event was the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Hop-to-Shop Vendor Show. The event ran the full day on Saturday and enjoyed a great turn-out of shoppers with wallets in hand ready to get started on their holiday shopping.

On Tuesday afternoon last week, three Lincoln Community High School seniors signed their letters of intent for their choice of colleges.

On the far left, Kenna Bere, daughter of Njeri Bere, signed with the University of Illinois in Springfield. Kenna's sport is Tennis, and she plans to major in Legal Studies. Rachel Stein (center), the daughter of John and Aliscia Stein, will be attending Illinois State University. Her sport is swim/diving and her major will be Biochemistry. Brook Soebbing (right) is the daughter of Scott and Robin Soebbing. She will be going to Lincoln Land Community College. Brook's sport is volleyball, and her major will be Business.
