Before
too long, we won't be able to see inside the new
Lincoln Grand 8 Theater construction site. The front
wall of the building is growing taller, and one has
to wonder, is the tall square structure just inside
the front wall the shaft for the elevator that will
take guests to the second floor of the magnificent
building? Talking with theater owner David Lanterman,
he said that in spite of the heavy and consistent
rains recently, crews only lost about two days of
work. So, the construction is running close to
on-schedule.

GREENVIEW
- Jeanne Wunderle of Mason City picks ripe blueberries at
Warren Swaar’s pick-your-own patch two miles north of
Greenview on State Route 29. The patch is open dawn to dusk
and the plump berries are plentiful this year. Customers can
pick wherever they want in the large patch, and berries are
weighed and paid for in Swaar’s garage breezeway.
With the 4th of July upon us, a favorite dessert is a red,
white, and blue cake. Bake your favorite flavor of cake in a
9-inch by 13-inch pan. Turn it out onto a large tray or cut
a piece of card board and cover with white freezer paper.
Frost the cake with white icing, then in the upper left hand
corner line blueberries in a tight rectangle. Use strawberry
halves or red raspberries to create red and white stripes on
the balance of the cake to make a flag.
