Lincoln Park District Executive Director John Andrews has announced that he will be retiring from his position effective at the end of this month. The Park District Board of Commissioners has selected Abigail O'Brien to fill the vacancy.

O'Brien has been with the Park District for the past three years serving as program coordinator. She is looking forward to taking on this new role at the Lincoln Park District.

On  Friday, Barbara Stroud-Borth welcomed guests to the Mount Pulaski Courthouse for a celebration of the 201st birthday of Mary Lincoln. Born Mary Todd in 1818, the wife and first lady of Abraham Lincoln shares her birth year with the formation of our state.

Guests enjoyed the popular Mary Todd almond cake with a choice of coffee or punch and spent a good deal of time visiting and sharing knowledge about the wife of our beloved 16th President.
