To the editor:

I have been a lifelong resident of Logan County. This the county where I married my husband and started a family. I met Jonathan Wright over twenty years ago and the thing that stood out to me was his character. Knowing Jonathan Wright for many years, I have seen him handle many situations. There is one instance in particular that has never left my memory. I worked at LDC from 1976 to 1985 and my husband worked there from 1975 until the time it closed down. My husband also worked hard as the Vice President of the Union until LDC closed. We both witnessed Jonathan Wright’s tenacity in fighting to keep LDC open. More importantly, we experienced the fervour and compassion Jon had in fighting for the right and dignity of those living at LDC.

It was that experience coupled with his time as State’s Attorney and all of the cases he tried that has furthered my trust in him as a candidate. Every case he brought before the court, he fought to uphold justice and protect the innocent victims. I personally appreciate the integrity of Judge Wright for not using the details of any case in an election cycle out of respect for the people involved. His experiences in private practice as well as his many years as Logan County State’s Attorney give him the best background for this position. Along with his past accomplishments and many years of hard work, what solidifies my vote for him is the fact that he has been hand picked by the Illinois Supreme Court for the position he holds now.

I have also seen him at many events in the community, outside of an election period, simply there to show his support for the community he is committed to. I have worked alongside him distributing food at a local food bank almost every month. I have also seen him working hard, in his current position, out in the community trying to create a positive atmosphere of the judicial system to our youth.

Judge Wright’s experience and moral character are the two overwhelming reasons I will be casting my vote for him. I would like to encourage everyone to consider voting Wright on March 17, 2020.
